By creating an account, accessing the website, downloading the game client, or playing on the ProtoMU server, you agree to these Terms of Service.
These rules are intended to maintain a fair, respectful, and enjoyable environment for everyone in the ProtoMU community.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By registering an account or using any ProtoMU services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms of Service.
If you do not agree with these terms, you should not use ProtoMU.
ProtoMU reserves the right to update these Terms of Service at any time. Any changes will be published on the official website.
2. Account Responsibility
Each player is responsible for the security and activity of their own account.
This includes:
ProtoMU staff will never ask for your password.
Account sharing is discouraged and is done entirely at your own risk.
3. Player Conduct
All players are expected to behave respectfully toward one another and toward the staff team.
The following behaviour is not permitted:

Harassment, threats, or excessive abusive language.

Hate speech or discriminatory behaviour.

Impersonating ProtoMU staff members.

Advertising other servers or unrelated services without permission.

Intentionally disrupting another player's experience.
Healthy competition and disagreements are expected, but they should always remain respectful.
4. Third-Party Software, Automation & Commands
ProtoMU is designed to be played manually.
The use of third-party software, automation tools, auto-clickers, macros, or in-game commands is permitted until such functions are patched into the Client.
While certain tools may not always result in immediate action, their use may be reviewed if they:

Provide an unfair gameplay advantage.

Negatively affect other players.

Place unnecessary load on the server.

Interfere with normal gameplay or server operation.
ProtoMU Administration reserves the right to investigate suspicious activity and determine whether the use of such tools has become detrimental to the server or its community.
5. Exploits and Abuse
Intentionally abusing bugs, exploits, or unintended game mechanics for personal gain is not permitted.
If you discover a bug, please report it rather than repeatedly exploiting it.
Items, currency, or progress obtained through exploits may be removed if necessary.
6. Staff Authority
ProtoMU staff members are responsible for maintaining the stability and integrity of the server.
Administrative decisions regarding investigations, warnings, account restrictions, or other actions are made based on the information available at the time.
While every effort is made to remain fair and consistent, final decisions regarding server administration rest with the ProtoMU Administration.
7. Warnings and Penalties
Violations of these Terms of Service may result in one or more of the following:

8. Server Availability
ProtoMU is an ongoing project.
Maintenance, updates, testing, technical issues, or unforeseen circumstances may temporarily affect server or website availability.
While every effort is made to provide reliable service, uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed.
9. Donations
Should ProtoMU accept donations or supporter contributions, they are considered voluntary contributions toward the continued operation and development of the server.
Donations are non-refundable unless otherwise required by applicable law.
Donation rewards, if offered, may be adjusted or removed if required for balance, technical reasons, or the long-term health of the server.
10. Privacy
ProtoMU collects only the information necessary to operate player accounts and provide server-related services.
Your information will not be intentionally shared with third parties except where required by law or necessary for server operation.
Players are encouraged not to disclose personal information publicly.
11. Account Suspension or Termination
ProtoMU reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms of Service or intentionally compromise the integrity, security, or operation of the server.

ProtoMU exists because of a shared appreciation for classic MU Online and the community that surrounds it.
These Terms of Service are intended to provide a fair framework for everyone while allowing the administration to respond appropriately to situations that may arise.
